During
WWII, my father’s family lived in exile in Belgium under German occupation. One
Shabbos Morning on his way to Shul, my grandfather saw large notices plastered
on the walls, proclaiming that soon there will be letters sent out to members
of the Jewish population and that ignoring these would mean death.
